Restaurateur Dan Clothier’s steak-and-chop house has been ingeniously designed to look like a relic of the 19th century, right down to its woodwork and antique mirrors. The menu also reflects that sensibility, offering fresh oysters, shrimp cocktails, thick steaks and a much-celebrated potpie. It’s the kind of classic American fare that the gluttonous 19th-century railroad baron “Diamond Jim” Brady would have loved. Modern diners will, too — the food quality is top-notch, and so is the service. - Charles Ferruzza
