Yes, at first glance the dining room looks like a fast-casual, order-at-the-counter joint, but Vietnamese-born Van Divilbliss and her husband, Roderick, have bigger ambitions for Café Song. Customers get table service, sometimes even by Van and Rod. The kitchen turns out excellent starters (shrimp-filled spring rolls, tom chien fried shrimp and pot stickers); papaya salad; the traditional pho soup bowls; light, flavorful rice and noodle dishes; intriguing French-Asian banh mi baguette sandwiches; pan-seared tilapia, covered with fresh basil and tomatoes; and a fine chicken curry. It’s probably the only restaurant in the city offering an Asian tiramisu, liberally soaked in coconut-flavored rum.
