Cactus Grill

3901 Prairie Lane
Prairie Village, KS 66208
913-831-2227
In the 1980s, restaurateur Ed Gieselman found great success in serving modestly priced Mexican-American cuisine at his suburban Jose Pepper’s restaurants. His more “upscale” Cactus Grills came later. This location, in the Prairie Village Shopping Center, isn’t fancy, but it does offer more seafood dishes and rich, exotic versions of traditional Tex-Mex. In addition to the usual tacos, burritos and fajitas, there are excellent braised pork carnitas, the VooDoo Tuna Tostada on fried “Navajo bread,” and the Creamy Steak Enchiladas (with jalapeńo cream cheese inside the tortilla and chipotle cream sauce and sour cream on top). The dining room is solidly Prairie Village: lots of young parents with toddlers and plenty of retirees who really go for those margarita specials.
