This cozy Thai restaurant holds up a corner of the historic Western Union Building — and it must be sending out the right signals, because it has become a lively gathering place for after-work cocktails and inexpensive appetizers. The place is named for Ann Liberda, founder of the Thai Place restaurant empire (Arun is her native name), but credit for much of the venue’s personality goes to her youngest son, Ted. He oversees the kitchen, which puts out a sensual combination of hot and sweet flavors and succulent textures. And it may be the only Thai restaurant in the city that offers tiramisu for dessert. - Charles Ferruzza
