Missouri quarterback Chase Daniel is the type of signal caller you want leading your team. He's tougher than a junkyard dog spitting spikes. He's worthy of Heisman consideration. (Last year he finished fourth.) He's gutsy enough to leap headfirst into eight angry 300-pound men violently blocking the goal line. And most times, the 225-pound Texan will get the six. Daniel does whatever it takes to win. He'll scramble for a big gain or sling the long ball. Last season, he passed for 4,170 yards and 33 touchdowns and led the Tigers to a 12-2 record. (Damn those Sooners!) He's simply a playmaker who makes guys named Corso and Herbstreit blush. In front of 80,000 people at the Border Showdown against rival Kansas, Daniel completed an insane 40 of 49 passes for 361 yards and three touchdowns. The win earned Missouri a No. 1 ranking, until the following week's Big 12 title game. (Damn those Sooners!) Daniel returned to cutthroat form in the Cotton Bowl and dominated the Arkansas Razorbacks. He may want to install a mantel for the collection of trophies that he's sure to win this year.
