North Kansas City’s Harley-Davidson Vehicle and Powertrain Operations plant (11401 North Congress), which opened in 1998, has the distinction of being the only H-D facility to produce an entire motorcycle from start to finish. The factory is open to the public anytime between 8 a.m. and 1 p.m. Mondays through Fridays. Call 877-883-1450 to schedule a one-hour tour. And hope the operators are busy — the hold music includes Foreigner’s “Hot Blooded.”
